ART PULSE HIRES ARTS LEADER DREW CADY AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR

ENCINITAS, CA: April Game, Executive Director of Art Pulse announced today that Drew Cady will join Art Pulse as their Deputy Director beginning February 1st, 2012. Cady will collaborate with Game and the Art Pulse Board of Directors and staff as they continue their work on several arts projects for the community.

Cady has over 35 years of executive experience in nonprofit arts management.  Cady was General Manager of the San Diego Symphony during a critical turnaround time, when the orchestra emerged from bankruptcy in 1998 and five years later received a $120 Million endowment from Dr. Irwin & Joan Jacobs. Cady began his music management career in Denver, as the Production Manager of the Denver Symphony in 1980.  He moved to San Diego in 1987 to become Director of Orchestra Operations of the Symphony here, and continued his orchestral management with both the San Diego Symphony and with the Mainly Mozart Festival.

“We are honored that Drew will be joining Art Pulse,” said Game. “He brings an expansive knowledge about the performing arts and arts management to this role and has a longtime commitment to the San Diego area. He will serve as our principal community relations leader as we continue to give shape to the evolution of Art Pulse as a countywide arts services organization.”

Said Cady about the appointment:  “I look forward to this process of building community consensus, to determine what the current needs of the arts community are and developing the programs to serve these needs.  We all know that a fundamental need of the arts is more funding.  One key focus of Art Pulse will be identifying and encouraging creative new ways to provide those funding sources to the community. San Diego as a region has an expansive arts culture and there are so many opportunities to promote this art scene and demonstrate it’s relevance within the community at large.”

Art Pulse is a 501c3 organization founded in 2007 in San Diego to bring new cultural life to the community at large.  In this past year, Art Pulse has been hosting a series of Community Forums around the county to discuss and explore the current needs of these various communities, for support of their arts programs.  It is the hope and vision of Art Pulse to help develop a stronger cultural infra-structure for the entire county, enabling a heightened visibility for all arts organizations and artists in our community.
